Wildlife of India

India is renowned for its incredible biodiversity and diverse range of ecosystems. From the towering peaks of the Himalayas to the vast wetlands of the Sunderbans and the lush rainforests of the Western Ghats, India's varied landscapes harbour a plethora of fascinating flora and fauna. India is home to approximately 426 species of mammals. This includes a wide range of species such as tigers, elephants, rhinoceroses, various deer species, primates, carnivores, rodents, and bats, among others. India boasts around 1,317 species of birds. This includes both resident and migratory species. The country's avian diversity encompasses a vast array of families, from colourful and charismatic species like peacocks and parrots to raptors, waterfowl, and songbirds.
